Training School on Nanomaterials Characterization

Location: University of Bialystok, ul. Ciolkowskiego 1K and 1L, 15-245 Bialystok, Poland

Date: March 14th to 16th, 2016

Organizers:

Beata Kalska-Szostko, Ph.D., kalska-at-uwb.edu.pl
Urszula Klekotka, MSc., ula.wykowska-at-gmail.com
University of Bialystok, Institute of Chemistry, Ciolkowskiego 1K street, 15-245 Bialystok, Poland

The school is focused on the characterization of morphology and physico-chemical properties of nanomaterials.

The proposed methods for the discussion are the following:

  • Transmission Electron Microscopy,
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy,
  • Atomic Force Microscopy,
  • Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy,
  • Raman spectroscopy and
  • Magneto-optical Techniques

(magneto-optical magnetometry and microscopy, second-harmonic generation (MSHG), ultrafast magnetization dynamics (pump-probe), time and space resolved Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy).

The planned topics include general introductions into the discussed methods and afterwards practical exercises on spectroscopy and microscopy.

The school is dedicated to a Master & PhD students and Postdocs audience, working in the area of nanotechnology with a background in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science.

Registration for the Training school is open until 29th February 2016, the registration form can be found here.
The Training School aims particularly at Early-Stage Researchers but more experienced researches are also welcome.
The number of participants is limited.
Participation is free of charge. Partial travel grants for the participants will be available according to COST Action Nanospectroscopy rules.
