Training School on Organic Semiconductors

The Training School "Organic Semiconductors - from Photophysics to Applications" took place at IMDEA Madrid, Spain, on January 26-30, 2015.

The school focused on the electronic, optical and photophsysical properties of organic semiconductors, discussed by means of optical spectroscopy and theoretical/computational approaches. It included a thorough introduction ('tricks & traps') to practical spectroscopy & microscopy, as well as hands-on courses in quantum-chemistry, and global analysis.
The target audience were Master & PhD students and Postdocs working in the area with a background in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science.

Selected Topics:

  • Introduction to Group Theory for Optical Spectroscopy
  • Quantum Chemistry of Conjugated Compounds
  • Photophysics of Conjugated Organic Materials
  • Photophysics of Hybrid Materials
  • Practical Aspects of Optical Spectroscopy
  • Optical Microscopy of Organic Conjugated Materials
  • Devices
  • Hands-on Workshops and Lab Tour
